It's BIG!!!

Really, if you don't know by now, you are WAY out of the loop.  The electronic loop, the familial loop, all the loops.

March 7 was my parent's 31st wedding anniversary.  And the day started early.  My mom met me at my house at 8:15.  In the door she came and asked what car we were taking.  I was coming around the corner after she went to get some things from her car and I immediately saw an "It's a GIRL" balloon.   I've got to say, i was a little freaked out.  It isn't ANY kind of surprise that my mom wants a granddaughter.  none.  My sister would love a niece.  My nephews were saying that I was going to have a little girl because I am a girl (that logic didn't work with their own mama).  So I was a little taken aback when I saw that balloon.  That's a heck of a lot of pressure after three wonderful grandsons for my parents.  Luckily, she kept walking in and there was the "Baby Boy" balloon.  PHEW!!!

I did feel a lot of pressure for the tech to say "Girl!  You see that?  It looks like a hamburger.  That's a girl," for my mom.  What a sweet surprise that would have been for her 31st wedding anniversary.

Either way...GIRL or BOY, we would be happy.  We had names picked out for both.  I had nursery patterns picked out for both.  We would be good either way.  But I felt like I owed it to my mom to deliver a granddaughter.  How ridiculous is that?!!?  It's not even up to ME!!  She can thank Matt.

At the doctor's office we met my sister in the parking lot and Matt in the waiting room.  We chatted about what we thought the outcome was going to be, Matt and I mostly listening while my mom told my sister she thought it was a girl and my sister telling my mom she thought it was a boy.  And we waited.  And then we waited.  Just when we thought it was time (an hour after my appointment time), we continued waiting.
Poor Matt...he was going to have to make this time up and stay late at work.  I finally asked and they checked because we were past an hour after my appointment time.  My ultrasound was the second of the day...who'd have thought it would be that late?  At 10:15, back we went.  Kristen got started right away on the ultrasound with lots of belly goo.  Yuck, there was a lot.  Almost immediately after she asked if we wanted to know the sex, my sister said "Let me tell you.  I have looked at a lot of boy ultrasounds, so I'll tell you the sex."  We chuckled, but Kristen didn't say much.  About 10 minutes later she was moving the wand around and she crossed over what looked like an unclear shot of a penis but also looked like a shot of the cord.  Back she went and my sister said "That was a penis, wasn't it?"  Kristen said that she wasn't sure whether we had seen it so she was just going to keep going with her measurements.  Good thing she didn't because the legs crossed soon after.
IT'S A BOY.

It is obviously a boy.  There is no questioning that.  And what do you know, I had on a blue shirt.

His profile.  He's just chillin'.

He finally got his thumb in his mouth after resting his chin on it.

He stuck his tongue out at us too.  The twig-looking things are his arms.  To the right of that, his chin, and the black circle with the gray in it is his tongue.  His tongue is the gray part.  Then his nose and eyes further to the right.

Kristen finished her measurements and my mom, full of questions, asked them and poor Kristen couldn't answer.  I filled my mom in and told her she could save the questions for my doctor.  After the ultrasound we had a bit more time to wait.  My sister had left and Matt had returned to work.  My doctor came in and assured me everything looks good and baby is measuring on target and was average for just about every measurement that was done.  Relief came over me that I didn't know I needed.  Baby boy is good.  That makes for a happy mama.

And now, let the boy planning begin.  The crib and bedding are done.  I love it.  I find myself
wanting to go in and just look at it.  Plans are in the works for the walls and art pieces.
