a BIG one

Whatever made me think I should complete task 22 with a less-than-three-month-old in tow, I'll never know.  But I did it...and I think I did it in just the perfect way.  Nothing over the top, no outlandish plans (although, it would have been great to have as Matt refers to him "Old Man" here)...just nice and simple with the people that love him the most.

I THREW MATT A SURPRISE PARTY FOR HIS 30th BIRTHDAY!!
AND HE HAD NO IDEA.

I got the idea about a month and a half before Matt's sister Meghan was due to arrive from Ohio to meet her nephew.  And from there, it grew.  Like I said, it didn't grow too big.

We all hung out in the living room and backyard while we waited for Matt to arrive back from Richmond.  His mom and stepdad asked him to come down and help with some projects so he could also learn to do some things for our house.  Great plan.  And on his way, I suggested he stop to pick up a six pack and a bottle of wine...I should have been more clear and told him exactly what bottle of wine to get.  Oops.  Matt should have arrived between 5:30 and 5:45, but instead arrived just a little after 6:00.  We were all ready and waiting.  And boy was he surprised.  He thought at first we were surprising his sister Meghan since it was nowhere near his birthday (only 13 days early).  But I have to say, that is the best way to surprise someone other than waiting until after their birthday.  We had a great time with BBQ, beer, and well, cheer.  Leave it to me to not take pictures.  So I leave you with only two.

Happy 30th to my honey, Matt.

Yes, I made cupcakes.
